Six Hours, One Dark Sky and a Night to Remember!

They travelled nearly six hours from Norfolk to discover the dark skies of Cymru — and the Green family certainly made the journey worthwhile!

Last night, the family joined Dafydd, SERYDDA’s Night Sky Guide, for a two-hour adventure beneath the stars on a spectacular 3,500-year-old Iron Age hillfort in Carmarthenshire.

Their mission was simple: to see the Milky Way, shooting stars and as many constellations as possible — and perhaps capture a few galaxies along the way.

The evening began with a little starbathing, learning to identify celestial objects with the naked eye. Then things became rather more competitive!

Each family member took control of a DwarfLab 3 smart telescope, before going head-to-head with professional cameras to see who could capture the most spectacular views of the night sky.

The results were incredible.

They photographed the Milky Way, Andromeda Galaxy and Ursa Major, while an unexpected display of green airglow added another magical layer to an already unforgettable night.

And the family competition? Let's just say it was serious! 😂

Dad summed up the activity simply, saying he really enjoyed the whole experience, while Mum said she had a brilliant time starbathing with SERYDDA.

The children, meanwhile, showed exactly why you should sometimes be allowed to stay up until 2am — enjoying the stars, galaxies and the magic of the night.

The evening ended with a little Welsh indulgence: Da Mhile Dark Skies Rum for the adults and Hathren Galaxy Collection Stargazing Brownies for the children.

A perfect ending to an extraordinary night beneath the Cymru stars. ✨
