I'm thrilled to announce a truly special weekend for dark-sky enthusiasts and photographers alike: the Eat Sleep Astro Retreat, taking place from April 2nd to 4th, 2027.

The perfect astro weekend!
The perfect astro weekend!

Hosted at the magnificent Llanerchindda Farm Guest House, Cynghordy, Wales, nestled in the heart of the Cambrian Mountains, this weekend promises an unforgettable experience under some of the pristine dark skies in the UK. Llanerchindda Farm offers exceptional hospitality, having recently been crowned the AA Wales Bed and Breakfast of the Year 2026.

Together with the wonderful owners of Llanerchindda Farm Guest House, the Hadley family, I’m excited to extend a warm Welsh welcome (croeso cynnes) to everyone looking to immerse themselves in the wonder of the night sky.

Why This Weekend?

The timing for this retreat couldn't be better for astrophotography:

  • New Moon Phase: We’ll have zero moon interference, ensuring pitch-black night skies.

  • The Milky Way Arch: Early April marks the prime time to capture the magnificent Milky Way arch rising in the eastern horizon.

  • Deep-Sky Delights: We’ll also target the Andromeda Galaxy (M31), visible to the naked eye under skies this dark.

Wait another hour and that Milky Way will look at its best. Wait until 4am!

What to Expect

With only 7 places available, this intimate retreat is designed to offer personal, hands-on guidance from start to finish. Whether you're looking to refine your technique or capture your first night landscape, I'll be on hand with:

  • Technical Guidance: Master camera settings, lens choices, exposure rules, and composition techniques for night shots.

  • World-Class Locations: We'll visit a local Milky Way-class Dark Sky Discovery Site (Bortle Scale 2 / 21.83 mag/arcsec2 )and explore officially Wales’ darkest landscape(99.3% of the landscape falls into the darkest of measurements), located just a short drive from our base.

  • Plus a bonus visit to one of Wales's iconic landmarks, the Cynghordy Viaduct. This, only with collaboration and agreement with the landowner.

It’s a rare opportunity to shoot in two extraordinary locations and build a standout portfolio of dark-sky images.
